Halloween Idea from 2000

Last year for Halloween I made up mini cards (the size of a postcard 
folded 
in half) which read:

Front:
A Treat For You!
(w/pic of jack-o-lantern)

Inside:
Happy Halloween from your neighborhood Avon Rep!
(+pic of black cat)

Back:
My name and phone number

On the inside cover I taped a lipstick bullet and handed these out 
while my 
children did their trick-or-treating. It was fun to see the neighbors 
reactions when they received a treat!

I always offer a lay-a-way plan, all year long but make sure to promote 
it more during the holidays. 

I take 30% WHEN THEY ORDER

remaining amount is split into two payments this leaves the customers paying me for 3-weeks.  I place the order and hold the merchandise until it's paid for...I don't delay ordering the items so I cut down on risk of shortages. Because of the way I've lined up the payments I am able to collect the amount I owe Avon for 
the products by the time I HAVE TO PAY....the last payment is profit.

If a customer gets paid every other week I will make the two last 
payments match their pay day. This still works out because they pay their first payment at the time they place the order...which depending on when they place the order could be a week or more before I place the order with Avon.
